Piedmont Park decided on Blue Tag Certified T-10 Bermuda sod after having proven experience in the Meadows and Oak Hill areas they needed the quick recovery and rugged durability that T-10 offers.
One of Piedmont Park's major concerns was playability after inclement weather. After weighing the options with the architect of additional under drainage and the associated costs they chose to use a 4? USGA sand cap for the fields.
In 2004, the Active Oval was used almost everyday for leagues, clubs, school sports, and pick-up games. With so much activity on one area of the Park, the athletic fields were in need of a major renovation. AFI worked with Piedmont Park to create a sports complex that can handle very heavy traffic of a public park and still maintain aesthetic beauty for years to come. Piedmont Park is set to open these fields for play in 2007.
“We were able to go and look at other fields Athletic Fields had done, and by far they stood out, in my mind as being the best people we could get for the job.”
