October 15, 2007: The Turf Is Coming-The Turf is Coming!!

After 60 days of sculpting, rubbing, and praying, the new Arvest Stadium in Springdale is almost complete. The Athletic Fields staff has worked steadily for 14 hours a day over the course of the last two months to get to this point in the project...

This week the team began installing the new turf for the stadium and should be completed by the 19th of this month. Northwest Arkansas Naturals Grounds Manager Monty Sowell is on site and assisting with the final phase of construction. Sowell has been hired recently by Rich Baseball to oversee the stadium once Athletic Fields is completed with the construction of the field.

Jamie Autry, one of Athletic Fields project managers, said "we are finally able to see light at the end of the tunnel, and the team will soon have a visual of where they will be playing next spring." Autry went on to say that while this project has been intense, it has also been a great project to be a part of. "Our build team looks forward to sitting in one of those seats and relaxing while the Naturals do all of the work..", said Autry.

Athletic Fields should be completed with this project by November 1st.
